Electric Car Charging

Field of Excellence
Electric Vehicles

Norway is a global leader in electric vehicles (EVs), setting the standard for sustainable transportation. With more than 80% of new car sales in 2023 being fully electric, Norway has the highest per capita EV adoption in the world. This success is driven by government incentives like tax breaks, free parking, and access to bus lanes, alongside an abundant supply of green electricity from hydropower, which ensures EVs run on nearly 100% renewable energy.

Despite its small population of 5 million, Norway's forward-thinking policies and strong environmental commitment have made it a global example. The government aims to phase out petrol and diesel car sales by 2025, a goal that now seems within reach. Norway’s economy, with a GDP per capita of $75,420, is rooted in oil and gas, but the country is proactively shifting towards green technologies.

Other nations regularly send delegations to study Norway’s approach to EVs, and global car manufacturers increasingly view it as a key market for testing new electric models. Norway demonstrates how political commitment and public support can drive a country toward leadership in sustainable transportation.
